Mirage

Mirage ('Miratge'), the design based on illusions, wins the third partnership agreement with the Art and Design School (EASD).

Design and creativity will be exhibited in the urban landscape of Vila-real through the third edition of the partnership that the City Council maintains with the School of Art and Design (EASD) of Valencia and Castelló. The project selected to appear in the urban environment is Mirage, a proposal based on the illusion and curiosity that recreates in open spaces, by the students Nahuel Cócaro, Carmen Martínez and Alessandra Rossi. The project was chosen by a select jury in which the Robles Project Factory team participated.

The concept of this project is based on the illusion and the curiosity it creates. It tries to attract the viewer to the tiles in different shades, in addition to a backlit canvas on the outside. When entering through the widest opening, the optical illusion of the vinyl and the tiles forming a kind of wave can be appreciated. 

The project, produced by the Robles Project Factory team as part of its support for education and innovation, has a structure of wooden ribs fitted together and covered with a vinyl that reflects the wave of the tiles. The tiles (10x10 cm in shades of red, violet, green, white, orange and brown) are anchored to the wooden ribs by self-designed anchors, which allow the project to be assembled, disassembled and transported more easily.

The partnership between Vila-real City Council and the EASD for these annual workshops has allowed the creation of design projects and ephemeral art in municipal buildings such as the University Library of Knowledge (BUC) and the Espai Jove, which recently installed the pieces designed by the students, using innovative materials such as Krion and other more traditional ones. In this new agreement, one of the common characteristics of the projects presented has been the use of ceramics as the main material in the design of ephemeral street furniture.
