Krion, Porcelanosa's solid surface
Krion® is the solid surface from PORCELANOSA Group, and at Robles we work it in our factory alongside wood, metal and glass. It is one of the materials we turn to when a project calls for continuous shapes, pieces lit from within or surfaces that have to withstand heavy use.
What it is and why we use it
Thanks to its composition, Krion is worked in a similar way to wood: it is cut, machined and assembled in the workshop. It can also be thermoformed into curves, it can be backlit and its joints are imperceptible, so a bar, a counter or a cladding reads as a single piece. That makes it possible to personalise each project with designs that would be hard to achieve in other materials.
These are the qualities that make us choose it:
- Imperceptible joints and continuous surfaces.
- Non-porous and easy to clean, with antibacterial properties.
- Resistant and insulating.
- Thermoformable, with good bending strength.
- Can be backlit.
- According to the manufacturer, it is also an ecological material.
Where we have used it
At the Hotel Kyriad Prestige Le Patio in Algiers, for Louvre Hotels, the bars are made of Krion. On Spain's first electric ferry, with Oliver Design, we combined it with metal structures, porcelain stoneware and wood panels to give the furniture the look of a solid, mouldable surface. And Comboi, the street furniture designed by students of the Schools of Art and Design of Valencia and Castellón for World Design Capital Valencia 2022, was made in Krion in white and yellow tones.
The gallery shows its main qualities and some examples of use: backlit columns, retail interiors, façades and bathrooms.
